Four Foods on Friday #30

  • May. 21st, 2008 at 10:53 PM

I'm only now getting to last week's, and this week's is only two days away! It's been a busy week.

#1. What’s your favorite white beverage? If you don’t have one, what’s your favorite beverage with something white in it?

I guess it would be milk (skim, please). And I do love coffee with flavored creamers.

#2. What’s your favorite white gravy, sauce, condiment, dressing or topping?

It's definitely Miracle Whip. Shut up! It's yummy.

#3. What’s your favorite white item from the refrigerated section?

Cream cheese!

#4. Share a recipe for something white.

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients:

1 box (16 oz.) confectioners sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
3-4 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla (I use vanilla paste)

Directions:

Combine in large bowl, with mixer at low speed, confectioners'' sugar, butter, milk and vanilla.

Beat at medium speed 1-2 minutes until creamy. If desired, add more milk until frosting is spreading consistency.

Makes enough to fill and frost 2-layer cake, 13x9x2-inch sheet cake, or 24 cupcakes.

Ooh I'm keeping that buttercream recipe!! I've always wanted a good one to use but have been too lazy to try one.

YAY another Miracle Whip girl!

It's right on the box of Domino's Confectioner's Sugar!

And I don't get the mayo preference most people have - if you're going to add something to your sandwich, it should have actual FLAVOR. Mayo is tasteless glop.

Re: ffonf
I don't find too many Miracle Whip lovers. I always get the stinkeye when I mention I love it!

That is the same frosting I used to make before I got lazy & started buying the little tubs instead. Never heard of vanilla paste, though. There's no one retailing off-the-beaten-path ingredients on the island, so I'll probably never get a chance to try it out.

I'm skeet of skeet's stuff (http://skeetsstuff.skeeterbess.com/)

You can order vanilla paste on Amazon; it's a little more expensive than buying it at Trader Joe's, but definitely worth it.

I really dislike canned vanilla frosting, but could eat canned chocolate frosting with a spoon for dinner.

I'll definitely check out your site!
