Thursday Thirteen

  • Nov. 6th, 2008 at 7:19 PM

Anybody who knows me knows that I am a music FREAK. I need it just as much as I need air. Chris teases me about it, saying that I really only listen to the same 100 songs. That is SO untrue! However, I am mostly stuck in the past when it comes to music. The best music was made in the 50s, 60s and 70s, with some great stuff in the 80s as well. And I'll concede there are some songs and artists out there now that I actually like a lot. The new Fallout Boy song "I Don't Care" is awesome, and I really like Pink.

But I don't love everything from those decades! My Thursday Thirteen for this week is thirteen songs that I would love to never hear again, no matter what decade they're from. This is just a very short list, there are lots more that I will always change the station whenever they're on!

6. White Wedding - Billy Idol
7. Don't Stop Believin' - Journey

Hah! Some of those songs are my favorite ones ever - especially #7 and #13! Great list, I may steal this one for next week!

I know the songs don't completely suck - it's mostly that I'm so SICK of them!

I am all about the 80s. I am addicted to it. You should participate in my Musical Mondays and post a video or two. :)

I might just do that. I do love 80s videos. MTV debuted in 1981, and I think I spend my entire summer at my boyfriend's house watching it since he had cable and I didn't.

Now that's a list! I think next week I'll post TV Re-runs I never want to see again...like perhaps Full House, or Brady Bunch.

Great Post...and um- some of those songs I still like:)

I love your blog!

I can see how these might irritate you. They are all a little over the top.

It's like some DJs don't realize artists have more than one song, and just play the same one to death.

I have been thinking of doing a T13 using this same topic for awhile. Songs that are in some cases bad, in other instances just overplayed. IMHO, Mellencamp's biggest hit (Jack and Diane) is one of his weakest. The same goes for Berlin's "Take My Breath Away". I much prefer some of their other songs such as "The Metro", "Sex (I'm A...)", and "No More Words".

God, I hated when Berlin did that stupid Top Gun song. Those other songs you mentioned, and "Masquerade" were incredible. I used to dance the night away in clubs to Berlin. I don't think they were even heard from again after that piece of crap.
